The Best Way to Reconnect with Your Personal Circle

The holidays are the best time of the year to reconnect with people you know.

Why the holiday season? Because this is when people are friendlier and more into relationships. It gives you the perfect excuse to get in touch with them.

But how do you reconnect with someone in your Personal Circle that you haven’t talked to in a long time?

Happy Thanksgiving Script. Be friendly and thank them for being a friend or for doing business with them in the past. Letting them know that you’re thinking about them is a low-key approach to getting business. Click here[download link] to download a free copy of the PC Holiday Scripts.

Happy Holidays Script (Christmas or New Year’s). Make a second call after a month. Have a natural conversation. Wish them a happy holiday and see if they know anybody who’s looking to buy or sell in the new year. It’s the perfect time because they’ll understand that you’ve set goals as you go into the new year.

Relationships are the future of real estate. Make it a habit to connect with your relationships so you maintain Top of Mind Awareness (TOMA) with them. Because when they think of you, they will give you business.

How do you reconnect with somebody in your personal circle, in your database that you have not talked to in a long time?

Hi there, it’s Kevin Ward, the founder of YesMasters Real Estate Success Training, helping you get more yeses and more successes in your business and in your life, and the holidays are coming up. And so today, I want to talk about the best time, the best time, of the year to reconnect with your personal circle, with your sphere of influence, with your past clients, with all those people that you know, the people that have given you business, or the people that are looking for business for you, the people that wouldn’t get you business if you stayed in touch with them. If you’re watching this and you haven’t stayed in touch with them, you’re going like, “Oh, man. I’ve got to do something.” Well, help has arrived because today I’m going to talk about how do you reconnect with somebody in your personal circle, in your database that you have not talked to in a long time.

I’d call it a personal circle instead of a database because the data has data in it, a personal circle has relationships in it. You want to have relationships because I thoroughly believe that relationships are the future of real estate. If you’re going to be a successful real estate agent, it is based on relationships. It’s going to be technology versus relationships. Some people are going to have the technology route, they’re going to be some buyers and sellers that are just going to just go the technology route, and mainly because they don’t have a relationship with a professional real estate agent that knows what they’re doing can actually help them deliver a better result. In other words, a real estate agent that actually has value in today’s time. If you’re that agent, how do you reconnect with these people and begin creating that top of mind awareness so that they will be a great source of business for you, both in their own buying and selling of houses and in referring you business?

People are more friendly, they’re more introspective, they’re more connected with other people, they’re more into relationships. It’s just a time of family and friends and a time of reflecting on all of that, and so it’s a great time to reconnect with people. It just gives you a real great simple excuse to say, “Hey, just wanted to call and wish you a happy Thanksgiving.” Right? There’s actually two scripts. I’m actually giving you two scripts, the Personal Circle Holiday Scripts. The first one is a Thanksgiving, and it is just a holiday greeting. Then the second one is a Happy Holiday Script that’s more designed for Christmas, New Years, Happy Hanukkah, and so forth. It is a greeting and a business script. All right? Depending on your circumstances, and depending on the relationship you have with this person, or whether you’ve talked to them or not in a year, or two, or three, or last month will help you know exactly which approach to use. I way I’ve laid it out as this way, and I’m just going to walk through with you kind of the script.

The first one is just a Happy Thanksgiving script, and it is a non business, really a non-business approach. It’s just designed to reconnect with them and say, “Hey, I was thinking about you and you matter to me,” and that’s the main purpose. This idea is I’ve got the first time I’m going to talk to these people that I haven’t connected with them in a while, is on Thanksgiving, I’m going to connect with them and just say, “Hey, Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you for being my friend. Thank you for your business in the past. Thank you for our relationship.” Then the second call will come the next month for new year’s and Christmas and it’s a, “Hey, I was calling for two reasons. One is to wish you and your family a Happy Holiday and two is to see who you know that’s looking to buy herself in the new year.” All right? That’s the framework of the download that you’re going to get here. It gives you the script and it’s just you. It’s just you talking to somebody that matters to you. Okay?

It starts real simple, “Hey, this is Kevin. Hey, Bill, it’s Kevin Ward. How’s it going?” If they know you only from real estate and you’re not sure they’re going to know who you are, “Hey, it’s Kevin Ward with YesMasters Realty. How are you?” Okay? I’m going to just reconnect with them. But if there’s somebody that I know and you know your name is in their cell phone, you don’t need to say, “Hey, this is Kevin Ward with YesMasters Realty.” In fact, a lot of times you don’t even need to say who it is. “Hey, Bill. How’s it going?”

They’re going to know exactly who you are, right? Because you are in their cell phone. “Hey, I just wanted to give you a quick call and wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving and just basically to thank you for being my friend. Thank you for our relationship. Thank you for the referral you gave me last year. Thank you for allowing me to have the honor to help you and your family sell your last home and buy your next one.” Whatever it was that you have about them to be grateful, then you would just expect that.

Now, if you want to. Then you can optionally just go like, “Hey, as we go into the holidays going to the new year, is there anything real estate related or otherwise that I can help you with?” Just super friendly, super nice, super high-energy conversation. Or, “Is there anyone you know that I could help?” It’s a very low-key approach. When you look at that, when you actually see the script, you’ll notice that I talk about is there anything real estate related or otherwise that I can help you with, that’s optional on this first conversation. If you haven’t been talking to them in a while, I’m going to keep this a very simple short conversation and say hello and happy Thanksgiving. I’m thinking about you. You matter to me. Okay? That’s the first conversation.

The second script is your Holiday Christmas script. That script right there is a time when you can ask for business. If you talk to them before, just wish them Happy Holiday and Thanksgiving. Now, you can say happy holidays and who do you know. It’s a perfect time to ask for that because you’re going into a new year, they’re going into the new year. They know you’ve set goals, they know that they know that you probably have goals for how many people you want to help, and so it’s very natural to say, “Hey, I’ve set a goal to help 50 people, or 50 families, or a 100 families, or 25 families, or whatever it is, who are either going to be selling, buying, or investing in real estate in 2020. Who do you know that I can help?” It’s just a very natural conversation as we look toward the new year and you can have it with them.
