Yes, the first half of 2020 is over.

Hi there it’s Kevin Ward, the founder of YesMasters Real Estate Success Training, helping you get more yeses and more successes in your business and in your life.

The first half of 2020 is a period in time that we will talk about for the rest of our lives, but it’s time for the second half of 2020. This is halftime. We’re just going to have a halftime meeting.

In this video today I want to talk to you about what are you going to do in the second half of 2020? Because in the first half of 2020, Bam! We got hit by a Mack truck. You got hit by a tsunami, by an earthquake, whatever you want to call it, whatever analogies, we got unexpectedly lambasted by something that nobody saw coming, and that made all of us go into tumbling in our world, and just everything came tumbling down. Well, what are you going to do now that all of that has happened? The shock has passed. We are still in a lot of ways in crisis mode, but it’s time to start winning and stop just surviving.

WHAT I DID IN THE 2008 CRISIS

In 2007 and 2008, when the global financial crisis happened. I had just bought in 2007, I bought a real estate franchise. I bought a real estate office, opened it up in Arlington, Texas. Then I acquired a second one, and then it was a partner. I opened a third one, and all of this in the middle as the subprime market started to collapse. Then as the housing bubble burst and everything started crashing down.

From 2008 to 2011, I did something that looking back on was a huge mistake. That is that I stayed in survival mode. I went from doing awesome, I was excited, I was growing, I was expanding. I was growing myself. I was growing my company. I was growing my income. Then all of a sudden, bam, the global financial crisis happened and we got stomped. Well, that happened, and it happened to all of us.

But for three years I stayed in a survival mode. My suggestion is going to be if you’re going to win, you can’t stay in survival mode.

3 STEPS TO WIN IN THE 2ND HALF OF THE YEAR

In this video I want to give you three steps for how to win in the second half of the year. How to crush it in the second half of the year and not be crushed, like it’s going to happen to so many people.

1. GO INTO ATTACK MODE

First step is we’re going to shift from survival mode into attack mode. Now when I say attack mode, what I mean by that is that we are going to attack the opportunity. We’re going to move into the future proactively rather than reactively. That I’m not going to be going like, “Please don’t crash me.” The storm comes and I’m like, “I just don’t want the boat to sink.” We’ve just been trying to keep the boat from sinking. Well now it is like okay, the storm’s blown over. There’s still repercussions of that. There’s still damage in the housing market, the real estate market, the economy, there’s still a lot of stuff happening.

There’s still a lot of unknowns. But I am not going to sit back, curl up in a ball and go like, I just hope I survive this. I am going to go into attack mode and say, “How do I find the best opportunities and when?” That is the first step.

If you want to win in the second half of 2020, the second half of the game this year, you cannot stay in survival mode like I did for three years. Now, during those three years, from 2008 to 2011, I knew people that got rich. They did things. They took advantage of opportunities that over the last 10 years has made them absolutely wealthy. What did I do? I stayed in survival mode and all I did was I just paid the bills. I paid the bill. I didn’t always even pay the bills, because I stayed in survival mode. If you want to win, you got to acknowledge the first half of the year we got hit by a tsunami, but the second half of the year is opportunity time.

Now, the stress is real. I’m going to talk about how do you deal with the stress that most of you have been under with all the stuff that has happened in the first half of 2020? But the first thing is I got to go like, okay, I’ve got the stress, I’ve got the situation. It is what it is. Some of your kids are still at home. You still have shutdowns. You still have limitations as to what you can do. But you can’t focus on the limitations, you have to focus on the opportunities. What can I do? Where can I move forward? Where can I take action? Where can I conquer? Where can I make more money and increase my income? Where can I do this? Where are the opportunities? Because when you look for them, you’re going to find them. But if you’re looking at how do I keep from getting crushed, and you look at the limitations, then you’re going to find yourself stuck in survival mode, and you do not want to do that.

Break out of survival mode and shift into attack mode, which just means that I’m looking for opportunities going like what’s there for me.

2. AIM MORE

Number two is I have got to reset my aim, and I’m going to call it aim more. I got to aim more.

First that means I got to get really clear and reset my goals and targets for the next six months. The second half of 2020, what am I going to do? Because your business plan for the first half for 2020 it was blown out of the water. It just was. But now we’ve gone through the shock, we’ve gone through the first half of the year, what am I going to accomplish in the second half of the year?

Reset your income goals, your business goals, and some personal goals for the second half of 2020, and set maybe some 60-day or 90-day targets, some shorter term things. Maybe some 30-day targets. Set some targets of specific actions I’m going to take every day to change my life, to change my business, to generate more income, to generate more revenue, to generate more leads.

What am I going to do right now and set those targets? When I say aim more, I mean, don’t just aim once and then forget about it. The key is when you set a really, really clear target. We set a really, really clear target here for the next six months, that I’ve got to keep my focus on that target relentlessly. I’ve got to spend more time aiming and staying aimed at my target, so I know exactly what I’m going to accomplish. Every single day I’m re-aiming, what I’m I going to accomplish today? How am I going to hit my six-month goal? What am I going to do to do that? I’m focused on that target right there, because that is the way I’m going to hit it. The moment you take your eye off the ball. The moment you take your eye off the target, off of the prize, you’re going to get distracted. You’re going to get distracted by the chaos. You’re going to be distracted by the news, by the media, by distraction.

Whatever it is, you’re going to get distracted, you cannot get distracted. There’s so many things happening in the world around you. You can either let the world and all the chaos happening around you determine your course of action, or you determine your course of action based on your goals and your target, and so you got to get really crystal clear about your aim and you got to go for it.

3. AMP IT UP

Then the third thing that you’ve got to do is for lack of a better way of putting it, I’m going to say you got to amp it up. Now, what I mean by that is you have to fuel your fire. You got to light your fire for the second half of the year.

Now let’s break this down for a second. We’ve all been through an enormous amount of stress. Whenever the world changes, whenever like the economy got shut down, the stay-at-home orders, your children have been at home.

We’ve got our daughter is living with us. She’s in grad school, but the school UPenn where she goes was shut down. It was like, where is she going to stay? She could stay there, but there’s nothing there like come home. We love it having her here and all that stuff is awesome, but it changes everything. Our evenings are more about spending time with her and doing all of that.

There’s a lot of distraction. There’s a lot of things that have happened and changed in our world. We’re at home, we’re stuck at home and all this kind of stuff. We’re cooking our meals at home and all of that. Things have just changed. Going to the gym. I had joined a gym thing. I don’t remember what it’s called, it was a bicycle thing. I can’t remember what it’s called, but anyway, but I canceled it because they were shut down. Now I’ve got to exercise at home. What am I going to do? All of that.

Our personal assistant for months couldn’t come to our house anymore and do a lot of the stuff that we had her doing, so now we’re having to do it. I had to make my don’t make my own coffee and all this kind of stuff. I know there’s no pity party, but my point is everything changed. Now we all have all these responsibilities. Those of you that have kids at home oh my gosh. Those of you that all of a sudden you’ve been working in the office now you’re having to work from home, and your spouse is having to work from home and you’re not set up for it it’s chaos, that’s stress. It caused stress in relationships. It caused stress on our finances. It caused stress in us physically in our health and our ability to exercise and all of that. If you’re going to win, you cannot allow that stress to just continue to pile up on you and pile up on you and pile up on you, and yet the stress is there.

What do you got to do? You’ve got to deal with it. How do you deal with it? You got to light your fire to burn through the stress, to keep going, without allowing the stress to burn you down or burn you out. Now, how do you do that?

Here’s the answer for how do you amp it up every single day. That is going to be with your morning ritual. I’m going to tell you guys, if you want to win in the second half of 2020, your business plan of what you’re going to aim for is really critical. But probably if there’s one single thing you can do to turn it on and turn the game around for the second half of 2020 is your morning ritual. Is what you do to light the fire in your belly, to get you fired up and energized so that you can blast off into the day with productivity and move the ball down the field and put points on the score board every single day.

That starts with how you come out of the gates. It starts with how you come out of the blocks and that is mastering your morning ritual. Let’s break down what you need to do with your morning ritual right now. If you have kids at home, it’s tougher, right? So what do you do? You get up earlier. Yeah but I’m tired, I’m exhausted. Well, if you do the right things in the morning it’s going to give you more energy and more productivity so that you can win. Actually getting up earlier for most of you is going to make your life more productive if you do the right things in your morning ritual.

HOW TO HANDLE STRESS

Here are some things that you must do every single day to handle the stress better, and to energize yourself and get more energy and more power to recharge your batteries, so that you can cope with the stresses of life and moving the ball down the field and hitting your goals and targets.

1. EXERCISE

Number one is exercise. When you get up in the morning, one of the first things you need to do every morning is you need to exercise. You’ve got to move your body until you sweat. You want to breathe hard. You want your heart to race. You want to exercise.

What exercises should I do? I don’t care, something. But you have to exercise whether it’s yoga or it’s running, or it’s riding, a bicycle or swimming or doing jumping jacks or whatever it is, doing calisthenics to weight training something, but you’ve got to sweat. You don’t have to work out for an hour and a half, workout for 20 minutes. But if you’ll do a good 20 minute cardio workout every morning and you can break it up and do all that, you can find help on what can I do that’s healthy for me and works for me. But the key is you got to get your body moving and you got to get your heart rate up. You’ve got to sweat. It gives your body energy.

Now it does several things for you. One is one of the number one things right now that exercise does for you like that, and especially when you get your heart rate up and you sweat, is it lowers cortisol. Cortisol is the stress hormone. It’s the hormone that when things are not going well, that stress gets up. It weighs you down. It wears you out. How do I release cortisol? How do I get rid of? Exercise, move. I recommend that through the day do a quick walk around the block, do some calisthenics. I’ve got a bouncer here. A bouncer is like the little trampoline little round trampoline. I just get on and I just jump up and down. I’ll jump up and down for like five minutes, and that’s a long time. Sometimes I just do it for 60 seconds and it just gets my blood pumping. It just kind of like boom, recharges the batteries. It quick fire me up it’s way better than caffeine. It’s way better than a coke or whatever.

It gives you that energy boost that you need to move. Number one is exercise if you want to amp up your day. It’s going to lower your cortisol, it’s also going to increase the blood flow, get your body moving and all of that it’s going to make it better.

2. DECLARATIONS & VISUALIZATION

Number two is declarations and visualization, is just chanting positive declarations every day. I’ve got other videos where I talk about it. I’ve got a video called my daily-ates, that will help you do that. But just every day I make declarations of how I’m going through the day, who I am. Just really declaring that I am the best, I am the best, I am the best. I easily and effectively achieve my goals every single day. Every single day I make this much money or whatever it is, you just set up these declarations that are declarations of you achieving the goals that you want. Number two is, still on declarations and visualization second thing is visualization. Is taking your goals and visualizing.

I’ve got a vision board on my wall. I’ve got a thing that I call my pocket plan that I carry with me. I’ve got one in my journal, I carry one in my pocket when I go out. It’s got pictures of my goals, things I’m excited about. I’ve got it on my desktop on my computer, my screen. I always look at my goals and I visualize myself having achieved those goals. If you’ll do that every single morning, and it just takes a couple of minutes, you just look at them and you go like oh, and you visualize yourself in that car or having that house or on that vacation, or being able to do that cause or give to that. Whatever it is that you’re excited about, visualize yourself having achieved that and being in that moment, and it just fires you up for the day.

The last thing that I do that is big is I journal every single day. Every single day I’m journaling in my journal I’m writing down five at least five gratitudes, and I’ve gotten multiple things that I journal, but I’m going to give you the two that I started with. Is I write down my gratitudes, five things I’m grateful for. Then through the day I write down my wins for the day. At least five biggest wins for the day, and that just gets me fired up for the day. Then the last thing is plan your day. What am I going to accomplish today? What’s my schedule, and all of that kind of stuff. Then with that, you’re fired up and you blast into your day with energy and enthusiasm to take advantage of the opportunities that are out there.

Because you’re in attack mode, I’m looking for the opportunities, and because I’m clearly focused on my goals, I got energy and boom I am off into the day. That is in terms of an overarching way of approaching the next half of this year, so that you can win in the second half of 2020. This is the recipe.

Now, what things are you doing to win in the second half of 2020? What things would you add to this? What questions do you have about this? Post those in the comments.
